Ground One Welcomes Nick Pritchard

We are delighted to announce that Nick Pritchard, Landscape Designer, has joined Ground One! Nick brings a keen design eye, strong work ethic, and passion for the outdoors to our design team.

GET TO KNOW GROUND ONE’S NEW LANDSCAPE DESIGNER

We sat down with Nick and asked him to tell us about his move to Ground One, what he loves about landscape design, and how he likes to unwind. (Hint: Outdoors, of course!)

WHAT DREW YOU TO GROUND ONE?

Nick Pritchard: Initially the extensive portfolio of high quality work inspired me to find out more about Ground One. After meeting the team, I realized Pat’s philosophy on how he operates aligns with my own ideas about how a business should be run. Nate [Ground One’s Registered Landscape Architect] and I also have a similar approach to landscape design and I knew I could learn much more working with him. I’ve also heard great things about Ground One.

WHAT IS YOUR DREAM LANDSCAPE PROJECT?

Nick Pritchard: I love to work with an existing landscape with challenging conditions, transforming it into something sustainable, functional, and beautiful. The projects that have challenges, such as small spaces, difficult grades, ordinance constraints, etc., often turn out to be the best projects. I find that challenges really inspire creative solutions. And without the challenges, there wouldn’t be a story behind the final product!

WHAT DO YOU LOVE MOST ABOUT LANDSCAPE DESIGN?

Nick Pritchard: I love challenging my creativity and watching an idea become real and tangible. Every project is unique, so the variety helps me learn something new every day. From a larger perspective, I am proud to be a part of this industry and to help people connect with nature and get outdoors!

WHAT CURRENT DESIGN TREND INTRIGUES YOU MOST?

Nick Pritchard: Hygge – the Danish term meaning “coziness” is a popular and interesting concept to bring to outdoor spaces. I love creating relaxing and comforting spaces for people to escape and recharge!

WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE WAY TO SPEND A SATURDAY?

Nick Pritchard: Getting together with family and/or friends for a barbecue. I love spending time outdoors on the lakes or getting in a round of golf!
