Ground One is happy to announce that we were chosen for an award by the National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI of MN). Our Cedar Lake mid-century home landscaping project was the 2022 recipient of NARI-MN’s Silver Award for Residential Landscape Design/Outdoor Living Over $250,000.

Our clients hired an architect to remodel their home, which is located on the lakeshore bluffs with a spectacular view of both Cedar Lake and the Minneapolis skyline. Ground One was brought in to create site plans required for permitting that met all the detailed code requirements related to hard surface permeability and bluff setbacks.

We collaborated with the architects to ensure a strong connection between the indoor and outdoor spaces.  For instance, basalt tiles were used inside the home as flooring and outside to create the main terraces and walkways as permeable hardscapes. We designed and constructed the masonry retaining walls needed for the auto-court with the same burnished block that was used for the inside fireplace surround  and exterior chimney detail on the home. 3D design models were used to show the clients an illustration of what the proposed landscape ideas would look like and how they fit the architectural goals.

A custom fire feature and raised planters were designed to accentuate the dark details of the home’s exterior. We utilized eco-friendly drainage solutions, landscape lighting, and low-maintenance planting choices throughout the project. The project goal, as stated, was realized which was to create a mid-century home interior and an outdoor landscape which are perfectly connected, and the client was overjoyed with our contributions.

Annually, NARI-MN presents Contactor of the Year (CotY) Awards to contractors who perform exceptional work on remodeling projects. Ground One’s Cedar Lake project received the 2022 Silver Award for Residential Landscape Design/Outdoor Living Over $250,000 at the CotY Awards ceremony.
