Patrick Weiss

Pat began his landscaping career mowing lawns at age ten and has been self-employed ever since. With a degree in Speech Communications from the University of St. Thomas and passion for landscape, Pat founded Ground One in 1989. Under Pat’s capable leadership Ground One has become an industry-leading, award-winning, full service landscape design + build company.

Growing up as an Eagle Scout, Pat was taught to always leave things in better condition than they were found. Landscaping has provided him the creative outlet to do just that. He is an advocate for his clients, and appreciates that he is entrusted to better their lives and their properties. He values these relationships and fosters a collaborative effort in each of his projects.

Fun fact: Pat still owns his first piece of equipment – a 1954 Ford N9 Jubilee Tractor.

Craig Low Res

Landscape Designer

Craig Trenary

Craig has a BS in Landscape Design from South Dakota State University and has practiced landscape design, sales and installation since 1993. Growing up in a small town in South Dakota, he worked for local farmers in the area providing him a solid work ethic. His appreciation for the outdoors and nature lead him to serve his local community as a member of the Citizens Advisory Council for Nine Mile Creek Watershed District. Living in Bloomington, Craig loves spending time with his family and remains very active in his community.

Over the years Craig has served his industry as a committee member in the Minnesota Nursery & Landscape Association (MNLA) and has achieved the title of Certified Professional. He has also, more recently, served as the President of the local chapter of the Association of Professional Landscape Designers (APLD). For the past 14 years Craig has been serving his clients with his own landscape company Terra Forma Design. He has now joined the team at Ground One Landscape Design + Build to provide an enhanced client experience from start to finish. Craig takes pride in listening carefully to his clients and providing solutions that effectively and creatively address their needs and desires.

Operations Manager + Landscape Designer

Kelly Lindell

Kelly started his career in landscape at age 12 working for his dad’s commercial lawn maintenance business. He went on to work at two different golf courses in the south metro, and then a larger commercial maintenance company.  His interest in landscape led him to pursue a degree in landscape design. Kelly’s design training and years of experience as a landscape foreman give him a deep and well-rounded understanding of the landscape process from beginning to end.

In his spare time, you can catch Kelly pursuing his favorite hobbies: old cars and snowmobiling.

Matt Low Res

General Manager Outdoor Services + Landscape Designer

Matthew Gassman

Matt has a diverse background in Architecture, business administration, landscaping and horticulture. While running his own business in Chicago, an encounter with a world-class garden sparked an interest in landscape design and a passion for plants that necessitated a career change. Matt thinks plants and spaces where we can relate to them are essential qualities to living the good life, and he relishes every opportunity to make a landscape better than he found it.

When not thinking about other people’s gardens, he can be found playing his extensive board game collection, working in his veggie garden, or around town as a beast of burden for his son’s wagon.

Angie Albrecht

Angie grew up in the rolling hills of NE Iowa, ripe with farmland and small towns. Her appreciation for diverse landscapes came when she toured the United States while in the landscape architecture program at Iowa State University. She’s utilized her diverse degree in landscape architecture in the private, public and nonprofit sectors. 

Angie enjoys the point where problem-solving and creativity combine in the landscape design process. She has a passion for native plants and enjoys introducing people to native plants and the benefits they offer.

Chris earned a degree in Wilderness Management and spent several years as an Interpretive Ranger for the National Park Service. Once he settled down in the Twin Cities he returned to school and got a degree in Landscape Design and Construction building on his love of the outdoors. Chris has worked in landscaping in the field, in design and in sales for the past 15 years and has now joined the team at Ground One.

When Chris is not working you will often find him volunteering with his local Scout Troop, camping with his Family or tinkering in his woodshop.
